Melanchton Yenawine Lidikay was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky, Feb 1, 1844.  He moved with his parents to Ladoga, Indiana in 1853. There he grew to manhood and was married to Nancy Watkins Jan 14, 1866. To this union was born four children, all of whom are living south of Wellsville: Robert Lidikay; Mrs. Zora Batdorf; Mrs. Bertha Alden and Arthur Lidikay.  He moved to Kansas in 1871 and lived on a farm south of Wellsville until 18 years ago. He then moved to Wellsville where he has since resided. He leaves a devoted wife, four children, 7 grandchildren, one great grandchild, two brothers and two sisters and several nieces and nephews. About eight years ago he was stricken with paralysis and has been an invalid ever since. About four weeks ago he suffered another stroke and died Aug 19th at 12:00 a.m. being 87 years, 6 months 18 days old. The funeral service was held at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon and was largely attended by relatives, old friends and neighbors. Rev. Hoopingarner and Rev. McLeod conducted the funeral services. Mrs. Cordell, Mrs. Brecheisen, Mr. Ralph Collins and Mr. Burr Ellenwood sang, In the Sweet By and By; Beautiful Isle of Somewhere, Sometime We Will Understand. There were many beautiful floral offerings. The pall bearers were his four grandsons, Raymond and Donald Lidikay; Ralph Batdord and Verne Alden and nephews, Ralph Lidikay and Walter Watkins. Interment was in Walnut Creek cemetery.- typed by  kbz
